Indoor Golf Simulators: The New Craze Sweeping Southwest Florida
Ever heard about golf simulators? If you haven’t yet, you’re missing out on the hottest trend taking over Southwest Florida. With outdoor driving ranges disappearing, indoor golf facilities are stepping up to fill the gap, and they are doing it in style! Enter The Cave, a brand new indoor golf venue that combines a bar, food, and even lessons to create a unique golfing experience for everyone.
The Rise of The Cave
Tucked away at 9250 Corkscrew Road, Suite 13 in Estero, The Cave opened its doors on February 4. It’s the brainchild of Karen Nicoletti, a professional golfer with the LPGA, and her husband Brad Swearingen, who once served as a professional golf caddy. So, you know you’re in good hands when it comes to golf expertise!
In a clever nod to the current needs of the golfing community, they set up three cutting-edge simulators where you can play without the worry of the ever-rising greens fees at actual courses. “Public golf courses are hitting their all-time high,” Karen says, adding that it can be tough for the average Joe to enjoy the sport without breaking the bank. “There are a lot of people who love the game, but there are very few places to play.” If you’ve ever dreamed of playing a round at Pebble Beach, you’ll love the fact that you can try it virtually without that hefty price tag of nearly $800 to play on the real course.
Open Doors and Open Arms
The Cave opens every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., charging a very reasonable $50 per hour for simulator use, which can accommodate up to six players. It’s a perfect hangout spot, offering a menu filled with tasty options like pizza, wings, and assorted appetizers—ideal for fueling a fun day of golf!
They are also creating a real community vibe by offering free women’s golf clinics on Mondays and special discounts for veterans and local heroes like police officers, firefighters, emergency medical services, and educators.
More Than Just Golf
But wait, there’s more! Brad Swearingen, after dealing with a nagging back injury that ended his caddying career, turned to create this indoor golfing haven. “When he was recovering, he needed a Plan B,” Karen shares. “He built it himself—The Man Cave.” Sounds cozy, right?
Looking ahead, they plan to expand The Cave by adding two indoor pickleball courts later this year, proving it’s not just about golf. For now, they are happy to offer lessons and activities that welcome players of all skill levels. “Coming here, you don’t have to worry about being intimidated,” Nicoletti says. “Beginners, advanced, intermediate—everyone can enjoy themselves without that intimidation factor.” Even kids can find fun games to play!
Experience Realistic Golfing
Curious about how realistic these simulators are? Brad demonstrates as he smacks a real ball into the simulator screen. The real ball hits the screen while a virtual ball mimics its trajectory, landing perfectly on the green. “It might take a little getting used to,” he explains, “but it’s so accurate and realistic. You’ll soon think you’re really out on the golf course!”
A Bright Future for Golf Lovers
With the days of outdoor driving ranges dwindling, indoor golf simulators like The Cave are quickly becoming the go-to option for golf enthusiasts and casual players alike. It’s an exciting evolution where the love for the game flourishes indoors, complete with great food and an inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re hoping to improve your swing or just enjoy a fun day with friends, The Cave is clearly the place to be!
