"David Dondero Concert Orlando: Join the Live Music Experience"

David Dondero to Perform in Orlando This Friday

Who, What, Where, When, and Why

This Friday, December 6, 2024, David Dondero, a revered figure in the indie music scene, will take the stage in Orlando, Florida. The concert will be held at BSide at Ten10, located at 1110 Virginia Drive in the Ivanhoe Village neighborhood. This performance is particularly significant as it offers residents a unique opportunity to experience live music from one of today’s most celebrated songwriters.

A Veteran Performer

David Dondero, often compared to iconic artists such as Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan, has spent decades cultivating an impressive career as a solo artist. Formerly a member of various punk bands, his transition to solo work in the late 1990s has led to a thriving career that showcases his lyrical prowess and emotional depth. His fans appreciate his dedication, especially in a music industry that frequently overlooks solo musicians.

Latest Album Reflects Pandemic Experience

Dondero’s most recent album, Immersion Therapy, debuted last year, capturing the essence of his time during the pandemic. Residing in Portland, Oregon, he collaborated with John Shepski, the owner of Fluff and Gravy Records, to create an album reflective of that uncertain period. “Some of the songs I don’t really sing anymore,” he noted, “but a couple of them are ones that I stick to in the set.”

Live Performances: A Dynamic Experience

Touring consistently over the past few years, Dondero revels in the unpredictability of live shows. He forgoes a setlist, allowing him to “read the room” and adapt his performance accordingly. “I try to mix it up every night,” he explains. This flexibility often results in engaging storytelling and spontaneous musical expressions that resonate deeply with attendees.

Love for Florida

When it comes to favorite performance locations, Dondero expresses a fondness for Florida. “I just love coming to Florida, especially in the winter,” he mentions, appreciating the state’s unique cultural offerings, from Weeki Wachee mermaids to boiled peanuts. “As soon as I get further south, I love to just eat as much Cuban food as I can.” This endearment for the region highlights the connection between his artistry and personal experiences.

The Drive Behind the Music

Dondero’s extensive travels have greatly influenced his songwriting. He often finds inspiration on long drives, recording ideas as they come to him. “Lots of the core of the songs come from while driving long stretches,” he shares, emphasizing the importance of transience in his music. This theme, prevalent in American folk music, encapsulates the universal experience of journeying and the connections formed along the way.

Special Thanks and Event Details

As he prepares for his upcoming performance, Dondero expresses gratitude towards Nicholas Sellitto from the Modern Music Movement for their collaborative efforts in organizing events. In the spirit of community and music appreciation, the concert on December 6 promises to be a memorable experience for all.

Tickets are still available for the concert, which starts at 8 p.m. This is a chance for Orlando residents to witness an artist whose work has left a mark on the folk music landscape. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enjoy a night of storytelling and song at BSide at Ten10.
