Sponsor Our ArticlesJJ Jakovac, caddie for golfer Collin Morikawa, made history with a hole-in-one during the Caddie Contest at TPC Sawgrass. At a distance of 131 yards, Jakovac’s remarkable shot on the famous 17th hole was celebrated by competitors including Jason Day and Min Woo Lee. His achievement not only earned him a prize package but also raised funds for the Bruce Edwards Foundation. Jakovac’s decision to donate his winnings to support military families adds to the spirit of camaraderie at the event.
In a moment that will be talked about for years to come, JJ Jakovac, caddie for the world’s No. 4 golfer, Collin Morikawa, pulled off an incredible hole-in-one on the famed 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. This stunning achievement took place during the much-anticipated annual Caddie Contest, held the Wednesday before the Players Championship.
Jakovac, who has been working alongside Morikawa and knows the ins and outs of the game, utilized a pitching wedge from an impressive distance of 131 yards. As the golf ball sailed through the air, it landed perfectly on the downslope of the green and, to everyone’s amazement, rolled right back into the hole. The crowd erupted with excitement upon witnessing this spectacular shot, which marked the first time in the Caddie Contest’s history that a major ace was made.
Word quickly spread around the course, and other competitors, including notable players like Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, and Isaiah Salinda, couldn’t help but gather around Jakovac to celebrate this historic moment. If you’ve ever played golf, you know that the atmosphere of good-natured fun and camaraderie really shines through in moments like these. The energy was contagious as laughter and cheers filled the air!
So, what did Jakovac win for this remarkable achievement? The caddie who nails the closest-to-the-pin contest, as Jakovac did, receives a prize package that includes a fund from donations made by professional players, along with a $10,000 sponsor award. On top of that, there is a coveted VIP parking space, an engraved money clip, and most excitingly, their name is etched onto a plaque in the ever-prestigious Tunnel of Champions.
The excitement didn’t stop there! On the same day, tour pro Alejandro Tosti also made a hole-in-one, leading to a raucous celebration that involved him getting playfully pushed into a lake by his fellow players. Talk about making a splash in more ways than one!
This caddie competition was not merely about personal glory; it supports a good cause. The funds raised go to the Bruce Edwards Foundation, which makes it a win-win situation for everyone involved. Jakovac’s phenomenal shot certainly added to the excitement, but the spirit of giving back is what truly enriches the event.
To make things interesting, the hole location for the contest was strategically placed to increase the chances of aces. Before Jakovac’s incredible shot, the closest anyone had come to securing a hole-in-one in the Caddie Contest was Chris Rice back in 2021, who landed his shot just 1 foot, 2 inches from the hole.
Jakovac isn’t just a lucky caddie on this day. He has already made nine aces during his golfing career and has a reputation as a standout player from his time at Chico State. He’s not only skillful on the greens but has proven to be quite the ace himself!
Adding to the joy of his win, Jakovac decided to donate his winnings to Blue Star Families, a nonprofit organization that uplifts and supports military families in Northeast Florida. This selfless act showcases that true champions aren’t just about making amazing shots; they’re also about making a positive impact in the world around them.
With this unforgettable hole-in-one, Jakovac has certainly “aced” his way into the hearts of fans and players alike. As the championship unfolds, we can’t wait to see what other exciting moments are in store!
