Marietta High School has announced the appointment of Cameron Duke as their new head football coach following the departure of Richard Morgan. With over 21 years of coaching experience and a successful track record at Edgewater High School, Duke is set to revive the Blue Devils’ football program. The community is invited to meet him at an event on January 22, where he will share his vision for the team’s future.
Exciting news is brewing in Marietta, Georgia, as the city prepares to welcome its new head football coach, Cameron Duke. This past January 15, the Marietta City School Board made a unanimous decision to appoint Duke, who is stepping into the role after the departure of Richard Morgan. Duke’s track record is impressive, making him a welcome addition to the team!
Cameron Duke brings with him a wealth of experience that every sports fan would recognize as a game-changer. With 21 years of coaching under his belt and 11 years as a head coach, count on Duke to inspire both players and the community. He previously held the reins for the Edgewater Eagles at Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, where he compiled an outstanding record of 85-14 over eight seasons.
During his time at Edgewater, Duke didn’t just coach; he transformed the program into a championship contender. Under his leadership, the Eagles made eight playoff appearances and delivered six seasons where they boasted double-digit wins. In 2022, his squad reached an impressive ranking of No. 27 in High School Football America’s national rankings, showcasing Duke’s talent at elevating the game.
So, why the change? The Marietta Blue Devils have faced some tough times recently, finishing with losing records in the last three seasons, including a 2-8 record in 2024. Richard Morgan, Duke’s predecessor, had a mixed record of 42-64 over nine seasons but did lead the team to a state championship in 2019, adding a highlight to the program’s legacy.
Now, Duke is eager to move the program in the right direction. His experience speaks volumes, and he is ready to tackle the challenges ahead with a fresh approach. Already boasting a career coaching record of 99-31, Duke’s past should provide the Blue Devils with a solid foundation to rebuild and dominate once again.
Starting in February 2025, Duke will officially take the helm and get the ball rolling on a new era for Marietta football. The community is invited to meet the new coach on January 22 at the Marietta Performing Arts Center from 7 to 7:45 p.m. This event is a fantastic opportunity for fans, parents, and players to get acquainted with Duke and hear about his vision for the future of the program.
With a desire to promote excellence on and off the field, Duke is committed to continuing the proud tradition of Marietta football while creating an environment that enhances the players’ growth. He and his family are thrilled to be part of this vibrant community, eagerly looking forward to contributing to the local spirit and camaraderie.
As Marietta gears up for this new chapter, all eyes will be on Coach Duke and the upcoming season. With his impressive coaching background and a commitment to revitalizing the program, there’s no doubt that exciting times are ahead for the Blue Devils!
