Myakka City: A New Golfing Paradise Awaits!

Hey there, golf enthusiasts! If you’re a fan of swinging clubs amid breathtaking landscapes, you might want to take a trip to Myakka City. This charming place, renowned for its wide-open ranchlands since its founding in 1915, is about to earn a new badge of honor—as a premier golfing destination! Mark your calendars because Soleta Golf Club, the latest gem in the golfing world, just officially opened its doors on December 10!

Pioneering a Dream

Set on a stunning site at 33720 Singletary Road, this **par-72, 18-hole** course is the brainchild of none other than World Golf Hall of Famer Nick Price. And that’s not all—golf instructor David Leadbetter, who has helped players snatch up a staggering 26 Major Championships, designed the 30-acre practice facility. Talk about star power!

“I think Nick had the best golf course in Florida at McArthur Golf Club in Hobe Sound,” shared Membership and Sales Director Alan Pope. “Now, I think we have the best golf course in Florida.” Sounds like a bold claim? Visitors are sure to find out just how true that is soon!

Turning Vision into Reality

The journey from concept to completion of Soleta Golf Club sure was a whirlwind! Just a year ago, project developers David Turner, John Galt, and Charles Duff teamed up with Price and Leadbetter to dig in the dirt and make this ambitious dream a reality. “We were sitting with everyone here, basically in a barn with the cow pasture, and a vision to build a fantastic, special and unique place,” exclaimed Turner. Fast forward a year, and it’s hard to believe how quickly their hard work paid off.

Weathering the Storm

Admittedly, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Mother Nature had some tricks up her sleeve, as the construction faced disruptions from the likes of Hurricane Debby, Helene, and Milton. Yet, against those odds, the team managed to stay on track. “Despite the frustrations and setbacks, they were able to kind of grind through it,” said Duff. Talk about perseverance!

What’s Next?

While the course is now open, the development continued. The future holds a **thriving golf community** that promises a myriad of fantastic amenities ranging from a sparkling pool, spa, fitness center, a golf performance center, tennis, and **pickleball courts**. If that’s not enough, how about several clubhouses dedicated to golf, aquatics, and racquet sports? The first phase of these facilities and homes is set for a fall 2025 unveiling, while the ultimate clubhouse will be ready by late 2026 or early 2027!

Respecting Nature

Soleta, meaning “sandhill crane” in the language of the indigenous Native Americans, takes full advantage of its stunning natural surroundings. The course is designed to promote local wildlife habitats, with alligators, snakes, and even Florida panthers making this unique locale their home. To preserve the environment, developers carefully ensured there will be no homes peppered around the course. Instead, 93 custom homes starting at a jaw-dropping $3 million will sprout up on the community’s northern edge.

Golf for Everyone

Here’s the kicker: Soleta Golf Club is tailor-made for golfers of all stripes! With the ‘Nick Price Black’ tees stretching 7,415 yards and flexible options hitting 5,145 yards (Green tees) and 5,805 yards (White tees), players can tee off to match their skill level. Unique bunkers and free-form tee complexes give golfers a variety of ways to tackle each hole. “Golf is two games,” Price commented, highlighting the balance between technique in the air and tactics on the ground.

Practice Makes Perfect

Hoping to improve your game? You’re in luck. Soleta features top-notch training facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology! Golfers can check out the Top Tracer technology on the driving range, perfect for honing your shots. Plus, various chipping greens and undulating putting greens prepare players for any situation. “We know that people do love to practice,” Leadbetter said with enthusiasm, hinting at the instructional programs on the horizon!

Membership Opportunities

So, what’s the membership scene like? They’re capping memberships at 275 local players and 100 national members, with around 170 members already signed up. Membership initiation fees are set at $100,000 for locals and $50,000 for national members, who will have limited playing time compared to their local counterparts.

So, gear up for a golfing experience like no other. Myakka City is ready to embrace the swing of things, and Soleta Golf Club is leading the charge!
