Get Ready, Raleigh! A Big Weekend for NC State Sports!

Raleigh, brace yourselves! This weekend is shaping up to be one for the books as the NC State outdoor track and field team and the women’s basketball team gear up for some exciting competitions. With events happening in two different states, the Wolfpack will be showcasing their talent and making their fans proud.

Track Teams Take Off!

The outdoor track and field season kicks off on March 21-22, and the energy is palpable as the athletes prepare for their first big test! The University of Central Florida Black and Gold Invitational in sunny Orlando is calling, and our NC State athletes are ready to answer. They’ll also be showcasing their skills at the UNC Charlotte 49ers Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina. Talk about busy weekends!

But first, let’s take a moment to reflect on the impressive indoor season that just wrapped up. NC State finished a commendable 23rd overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with five athletes stepping up to shine bright by earning All-American honors. Notably, Grace Hartman made history by setting a new NC State record in the 5,000 meters, clocking in at an astounding 15:11.10 and finishing 6th overall. That’s a huge accomplishment and a perfect way to kick off the outdoor season!

For the women’s squad, they wrapped up the indoor season with an 11th place finish at the ACC Indoor Championships, while the men matched that with their own 11th place finish and racked up five podium finishes along with seven All-ACC performers. The excitement didn’t stop there! The women’s Distance Medley Relay team, featuring Kate Putman, Jordyn Parker, Angelina Napoleon, and Hannah Gapes, secured a thrilling victory with a time of 10:52.59. Plus, freshman sensation Tyson Adams won the long jump after reaching a personal best of 7.76 meters, earning first-team All-ACC honors and a spot in NC State’s all-time top-10 list. What an exhilarating season!

The Women’s Basketball Team Hits the Court!

But wait, there’s more! The NC State women’s basketball team is set to make their mark in the 30th NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament. Ranked No. 9/9, they are stepping into the tournament as a solid No. 2 seed in the Spokane Regional 1, and their first-round game is just around the corner! They will host their first two rounds right here in Raleigh, bringing all the local basketball vibes to home turf.

Mark your calendars for March 22, because the Wolfpack will face off against 15-seeded Vermont at 2 p.m. on ESPN. If they come out on top, they will clash with the winner of the matchup between 7-seeded Michigan State and 10-seeded Harvard. The excitement builds as the winner of the second-round matchup will head to Spokane for regional play from March 28-31. Also, don’t forget, the Final Four is coming up in Tampa, Florida, from April 4-6!

Ticket Information

For all the supporters out there, ticketing details have been released. All-session books will be available for Wolfpack Club members and season ticket holders starting Sunday night, and general public sales will kick off on March 17 at 11 a.m.. Fans be ready; this is your chance to cheer on our teams!

NC State has now made it to the NCAA Tournaments for an incredible eight straight years, and this tournament marks their 30th overall appearance. Since 1983, they have an impressive record of 19-2 in NCAA Tournament games played in Raleigh. Will they continue this impressive streak? Only time will tell, but the Wolfpack community is ready to rally behind them!

So, get out your red and white gear and get ready to support our Wolfpack—let’s show them what Raleigh is made of!
