Tragic Incident at Orlando Airport: Woman Arrested for Drowning Dog

Clermont, Florida – In a heart-wrenching case that has left many stunned, a 57-year-old woman named Alison Agatha Lawrence has been arrested for allegedly drowning her dog in an airport bathroom. The incident took place on December 16, 2024, at Orlando International Airport, and has raised serious questions about animal welfare and responsibilities of pet owners.

A Dark Discovery

On March 18, 2025, authorities apprehended Lawrence after the lifeless body of her 9-year-old miniature schnauzer, Tywinn, was discovered in a trash bin by a cleaning employee. The dog was found shortly after staff noticed unusual signs in an ADA-accessible bathroom stall, where Lawrence was seen cleaning up water and dog food.

It seems the day began with hope for Lawrence and her furry companion, but quickly took a tragic turn. Surveillance footage from the airport shows Lawrence spending approximately 15 minutes discussing travel arrangements with agents from LATAM Airlines regarding Tywinn’s travel eligibility. Unfortunately, it was revealed that she didn’t have the proper papers required to board the flight with her pet.

Into the Bathroom

After being informed she couldn’t take Tywinn on the flight to Colombia, Lawrence allegedly took her dog into the bathroom. Surveillance footage captured her entering the bathroom at approximately 1:50 p.m. and leaving just 17 minutes later, at approximately 2:07 p.m., without the dog.

While Lawrence was seen rejoining the main terminal post-visit, Tywinn was nowhere to be found, leading to alarming concerns from airport staff. Between 2:07 p.m. and 3:34 p.m., Lawrence passed through TSA security, seemingly unfazed, and settled at her flight’s gate before boarding her plane bound for South America.

A Gruesome Finding

Once airport employees discovered the lifeless dog, it sent shockwaves throughout the facility. Tywinn was found in a trash bag, with a collar and dog tag that had Lawrence’s name and contact information. A necropsy determined that the adorable schnauzer had died from drowning, a heartbreaking conclusion that nobody wants to imagine.

Legal Consequences

An arrest warrant was issued on March 14, 2025, and Lawrence was taken into custody just days later. She has been charged with aggravated animal abuse, a third-degree felony. If convicted, she could spend up to five years in prison and face a fine of $5,000. However, there is no mandatory prison sentence for this type of felony, which raises eyebrows about the seriousness of the offense.

After her arrest, Lawrence was released on a $5,000 bond, which has many wondering about the implications of such a ludicrous situation. What was she thinking? How could someone take such drastic measures against their own pet? These are the questions circulating in the community as the case unfolds.

Community Response

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority is fully cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues. This incident has left many pet owners in disbelief, and animal welfare advocates are speaking out about the urgent need for change in regulations for traveling with pets. Shouldn’t every pet deserve a safe and loving environment, regardless of the circumstances?

Lawrence was scheduled to travel to South America and is believed to have flown from Colombia to Ecuador after boarding her flight, raising further concerns about the safety net in place for pets traveling on airlines.

Final Thoughts

As the story unfolds, many in Clermont and beyond are left reflecting on the responsibilities we bear as pet owners. Tywinn’s tragic end serves as a reminder of the deep bond between humans and animals, and why it is crucial to protect and cherish that connection. Only time will tell how this case will progress, but for now, it has undoubtedly tugged at the heartstrings of many.
