Orlando’s Angel Tree Program Brings Holiday Joy to 533 Children in Need

Orlando Spreads Holiday Cheer Through Angel Tree Program

Orlando, Fla. – The holiday spirit is alive and well in Orlando this season as the city’s International Drive takes on a special mission: giving back to the community. This year, the collaborative efforts among local businesses have resulted in the collection of gifts for 533 children in need through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. This initiative marks the 21st annual Angel on I-Drive event, bringing together hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues to uplift local families during the festive season.

Wishing Trees Unite the Community

Tags adorning Angel Trees in various businesses across I-Drive symbolize the Christmas wishes of children who might not otherwise receive gifts. Community members, including both guests and employees, have eagerly picked up tags, bought presents, and dropped off their donations at participating locations. As the holiday approaches, dedicated volunteers are busy organizing and wrapping the gifts in anticipation of Distribution Day and Christmas morning.

Bringing Joy to Families

“It’s not just about the gifts — it’s about bringing hope to families who are struggling this holiday season,” stated Luann Brooks, executive director of the I-Drive District. This sentiment is echoed by Chelsea Brooks, whose personal story inspired the creation of the program years ago. “Seeing the generosity of our community year after year is heartwarming. It reminds us all of the true meaning of the season,” she shared.

Community Participation

Participating businesses have fully embraced this initiative. For instance, the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace and Hilton Grand Vacations Parc Soleil have seen enthusiastic involvement from employees and patrons alike. Holiday-themed characters such as Jingles and Chestnut the Elves have also joined in to spread joy. Damir Murati, the director of security at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace, highlighted the significance of the program, stating, “This initiative allows us to give back to the community to ensure each child has their wish fulfilled. It comes from the bottom of our heart.”

Making a Difference

The impact of the Salvation Army Angel Tree program in Orlando has been substantial this year, with over 2,000 pairs of socks also collected for those in need. The collection of gifts serves as a poignant reminder that kindness can bring a ray of hope to families facing difficult times. With 533 Angels adopted during the Angels on I-Drive initiative, the local spirit of generosity shines brightly this holiday season.

How to Help

For those looking to contribute to this heartwarming effort, volunteering or donating can make a significant difference. Information on how to assist can be found on the Salvation Army website. The community effort exemplifies how coming together can foster a loving environment, making the holiday season brighter for everyone involved.
