This isn’t the first rodeo for the Orlando International Airport when it comes to establishing a vertiport. In fact, this marks the third attempt to bring flying cars to life in the city. Past ventures included a contract with a German company called Lilium in 2020 and a partnership with NASA in 2021. Support is growing among Florida officials, including the state Department of Transportation, who see the establishment of vertiports in urban areas as a beneficial step forward for aerial commutes. Additionally, legislation has been proposed to offer sales tax exemptions for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, paving the way for exciting advancements.
