Orlando’s November Buzz: Fashion, Haunts, and Community Vibe

Hey there, Orlando residents! It’s another exciting week in our lovely city, and we’ve got a lot to chat about. Our local podcast a few nights ago aired from Ollie’s, where two pals enjoyed delicious sandwiches and some cold beers while discussing the happenings around town. It seems that Thursday evenings can get quite busy at local spots, this time causing a bit of a wait for their food. But you know what they say, good things come to those who wait!

Visit Orlando’s Event Definition Raises Eyebrows

During the podcast, the hosts stirred the pot a bit by diving into Visit Orlando’s idea of a “city-wide event.” Some locals were puzzled and probably scratching their heads wondering how that was defined, but then again, isn’t that part of the fun? Orlando always keeps us on our toes when it comes to events!

Baseball Dreams and a Spending Limit

In some intriguing news for sports lovers, the Mayor of St. Pete made headlines by announcing a spending limit geared towards keeping The Rays in the area. This announcement sparked hope among the Orlando Dreamers, hinting at a collaboration that could be in the works. It’s a wild ride, but let’s see where the baseball winds will take us!

Big Closures Notify Craft Enthusiasts

Speaking of wild rides, brace yourselves, fabric lovers! Joann’s Fabric plans to close a whopping 500 stores across the nation; that’s going to leave a mark in the crafting community. If you love sewing, quilting, or creating, make sure to stock up while you can before they close their doors for good.

A Science-y Guest and Local Events

In more exciting news, Jeff Stanford from the Orlando Science Center dropped by the podcast to share details about upcoming events. If you’re a science enthusiast, be on the lookout for all the engaging activities planned that will keep both kids and adults entertained. Science can be fun, after all!

Orlando International Fashion Week Approaches

Fashion-forward folks, mark your calendars! The Orlando International Fashion Week will be strutting its stuff on June 8, 2025, at the Winter Park Events Center. With two runway shows to choose from at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., you won’t miss a beat. Designers, brands, and vendors are welcome to register and join the fun!

Spook-tacular Halloween Events

As we inch closer to Halloween, multiple spooky activities are lined up. A Petrified Forest in Altamonte Springs is continuing its thrill with a popular haunt featuring themed trails and attractions. This year’s spine-chilling theme “Tech-Wood Terror” is sure to thrill attendees. And if you’re anywhere near Tampa Bay, SCREAM-A-GEDDON is back for its 10th season, bringing six haunted houses to terror-ize you! Yikes!

Closer to home, the Sorosis Club in Orange City will host its annual haunted house called “Blackwood Castle,” from October 17 to October 26. For those who love Victorian scares, Mortem Manor in Kissimmee serves up a year-round haunted experience, while Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail in Plant City offers interactive horror trails and escape games. October is going to be a scream!

Caffeine Lovers, Rejoice!

Ditch your regular routine and join the caffeine crowd on November 16 at the new coffee festival, presented by Orlando Coffee Culture! There will be tastings galore, informative workshops, and a whole host of local vendors, all taking place at Festival Park in the Milk District. The festival is free to attend, but workshops will have a fee, so grab your coffee-loving friends and enjoy a day dedicated to all things java!

A Historic Milestone at Lake Eola Park

Lastly, let’s appreciate a piece of Orlando history! A beautiful historic home located at Lake Eola Park recently celebrated its 100th birthday. Built in 1924, it has been lovingly restored and is now utilized for park operations and available for rental. Talk about blending history with community!

That’s all the buzz for this week, Orlando! Keep your spirits high, and don’t forget to catch the Bungalower podcast airing every Friday night at 8 p.m. on Real Radio 104.1 FM. Until next time, have fun exploring and engaging with our fantastic community!
