    On April 6, 2025, at approximately 2:19 am, Orlando Police Department Officers responded to 2155 West Colonial Drive, parking lot of the Magic Mall, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, Joseph U. Phillips, suffering from a gunshot wound. The Orlando Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

    A thorough investigation revealed that the victim had been a patron at D’Junction Island Bar and Restaurant and had stepped outside just as a group in the parking lot became involved in an argument. During the altercation, the suspect, Keishawn A. Richards, produced a firearm and attempted to shoot another individual involved in the dispute. Instead, the victim was struck by a stray bullet. On April 6, 2025, Richards was taken into custody without incident at his residence by the OPD SWAT team and was charged with Manslaughter with a Weapon.  
     
    Today, OPD detectives identified and arrested an additional suspect as Naratha N. McKinney. McKinney was involved in the group that was arguing. During the altercation, McKinney brandished a firearm and discharged several rounds into the air.  As a result of these actions, McKinney is charged with Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.
