Hyten wasted no time getting into the swing of things this season. On September 25, she showcased her impressive skills at the Gateway Metro Conference Tournament, hosted at the Woodlands Golf Club. What an exciting way for her to kick off her senior year! Next, on September 26, she participated in the Gary Bair Tournament at Belk Park Golf Course. With her dedication and passion on full display, fans and fellow competitors alike are already buzzing about her performance. Star quality like this doesn’t come around every day!
Let’s talk accolades! Sarah’s career is nothing short of spectacular, boasting an impressive total of 15 victories. Out of those, an astounding seven of them were won just last year! She has made a lasting impression not only at Father McGivney but in the entire golf community. Recognized twice as the Player of the Year for the Class 1A girls by the Metro-East Golf Coaches Association, Sarah is the first golfer from her school to achieve such an honor. And that’s not all! She’s also captured her third consecutive regional championship and steered her team toward their very first sectional championship.
Hyten had a stellar junior year, clinching victories in major events like the Gateway Metro Conference championship, the Alton Invitational, the Illinois-Missouri River Challenge, the Panther Invitational, and the Madison County Tournament. To top it all off, she finished fourth at the Class 1A state tournament, completing the event with a two-round total of 7-over 151, which included individual rounds of 2-over 74 and 5-over 77. Talk about consistency!
Hyten’s journey is defined by her remarkable consistency. She boasts two top-10 finishes at the Class 1A state tournament, including a ninth-place finish in her sophomore year. It’s clear she has set the bar high at Father McGivney, claiming nearly all of the program’s records. Most notably, she set a record for an 18-hole round with an impressive 2-under 70 and broke the record for a 9-hole round with a stunning even-par 32 during a quadrangular match. These achievements are a testament to her hard work and determination!
This season, her performance metrics are equally noteworthy, with a stunning 9-hole average of 35.5 and an 18-hole average of 73.6. For young female golfers out there looking for inspiration, Sarah is proof that dedication and resilience really pay off!
As the excitement builds, Sarah is already preparing for the upcoming competitions. She’s set to compete in the Class 1A Rochester Sectional on October 7, where she’ll not only be representing herself but also her Father McGivney team, who triumphantly claimed their first-ever regional championship in golf with a remarkable score of 338, besting Breese Central by eight strokes. What an achievement for the team!
