Exciting news is hitting the green in Myakka City! Just a year after Nick Price took to a bulldozer to kick off the construction, the stunning Soleta Golf Club has now been officially unveiled, and it’s already drawing attention from golfers all around.
Price, a World Golf Hall of Famer and former No. 1 player in the world, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm. “As you get deeper into the project, it evolves a little differently, but it’s basically what we’ve wanted,” he said, sporting a grin. “I think we did better than what I expected.” That’s high praise coming from someone who knows a thing or two about golf!
Situated at 33720 Singletary Road, Soleta Golf Club is the first of its kind in Myakka City. This private club is designed to cater to everyone — whether you’re a high handicapper, a weekend warrior, or even a touring pro, there’s something here for every golfer’s taste. Price’s design takes advantage of the natural landscape, incorporating wetlands and native white sugar sand to create that distinct Florida links-style feel.
“To get those landing areas correct is imperative, so you have wide enough areas,” Price explained about the strategy behind the design. It’s all about making the course enjoyable while still giving players a challenge!
One of Soleta’s coolest features is its versatility. Price designed the course with options in mind. “We give players three or four ways to chip, two or three ways to approach the green,” he said. And get this — they’ve included 120 yards on free-form tees, allowing them to shift tees forward or backward by 20 yards each time you play. So, if you enjoyed the course yesterday, today might surprise you with a whole new experience!
Looking to become a member? Well, that’s where it gets a bit exclusive! Soleta has a cap of 375 members, with 275 spots reserved for locals and 100 for those living outside a 60-mile radius. Membership comes with a hefty initiation fee — $100,000 for locals and $50,000 for national members. Hold on, though! Money will start to climb soon. Prices will rise after pre-sale, so it might be wise to get your application in soon if you fancy yourself a member of this luxurious golf experience.
The buzz is already drawing in big names! Notably, Bradenton’s own Nelly Korda, an Olympic gold medalist golfer, has joined the club. According to membership and sales director Alan Pope, she appreciates the unique challenge of the course, stating, “The fairways are not flat here.” She’s loving the character that Soleta has to offer!
The course spans 7,400 yards with a par of 72 as part of its first phase. And there’s more to come! A practice facility is in the works and is scheduled for completion by 2025, under the guidance of renowned golf instructor David Leadbetter. The performance center will be equipped with advanced technology like Toptracer and Trackman, allowing members to track their performance in detail.
“Toptracer is a game changer,” Pope claims. With real-time data on your shots, this is going to be the ultimate way to up your game. You can even download everything to your phone or iPad as you practice; it’s like having your personal coach with you!
And if you thought it was all about golf, think again! Plans are in place for lifestyle amenities, including a restaurant, a hot tub, a cold tub, and even a sauna! Not to mention potential additions like a pool, tennis, and pickleball courts!
So, whether you’re looking to perfect your swing or just enjoy a beautiful day outdoors, Soleta Golf Club is shaping up to be the place to be. Imagine teeing off with the stunning Florida landscape as your backdrop! What are you waiting for?
More is on the way at Soleta, and it looks pretty promising for golf enthusiasts in the area!
