This harrowing incident, which took place near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., around 9 PM ET, ultimately claimed the lives of all 67 individuals on board the two aircraft.

The Events Leading Up to the Crash

At the time of the crash, American Eagle Flight No. 5342 was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, while the Black Hawk helicopter was conducting a training flight with three soldiers from the Army’s B Company, 12th Aviation Battalion, based out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
