Universal Orlando Resort has officially rolled out the second generation of interactive wands at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This exciting update was announced in late February 2025, making fans of the Wizarding World buzz with anticipation as they prepare for the grand opening of the Ministry of Magic on May 22, 2025.

What’s New in Wand Technology?

These upgraded wands are now enchanting guests at both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, providing a fresh, immersive experience for visitors. The new models come with a sleek design and enhanced technology, making spell-casting at the parks even more interactive and enjoyable.

One of the standout features of the second generation wands is their illumination effects and haptic vibrations that synchronize with each spell cast. This means when you’re waving your wand around, you’re not just pretending; you’ll really feel like a wizard in action!

Where to Grab Your New Wand!

Wands can be purchased at a variety of locations, including Ollivanders Wand Shop in both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, plus Wands by Gregorovitch in Diagon Alley. Although there was a bit of confusion at launch—initially, Ollivanders didn’t stock the new models—the Wand Cart situated near Hogwarts Castle had the exciting new wands available right from the start. It’s always wise to check where to get your wand before heading out!

New Designs Steal the Show

Get ready to choose from four stunning new wand designs: Redwood, Spruce, Silver Lime, and Pine. Each design is unique and comes in an elegant black box adorned with a gold wand sticker. The insides of the boxes vary by wand style, adding a touch of mystery to your magical acquisition.

Redwood Wand: A striking brown base with a bright red handle and golden filigree.
Spruce Wand: Features a delicate lighter brown color with a handle that showcases wood encircling a green gemstone.
Silver Lime Wand: An elegant black wand embellished with silver filigree and a sleek black handle.

Ministry of Magic location in Epic Universe. The Universal Play App isn’t just a digital companion; it also allows you to track your progress and create a personalized Wizard Profile. By earning House Points and competing for a daily House Cup, the new app feature takes the interactive experience to a whole new level. five new interactive spell locations added, guests can now explore a total of 30 spots throughout the parks, all enhanced with better effects and upgraded camera systems. The exciting integration of the Universal Play App into the wand experience lets visitors enjoy personalized interactions while casting spells, bringing a fresh layer of magic to the already beloved attractions.
