The Westcourt project in downtown Orlando has received official approval from the Appearance Review Board. This major development will bring a new home for the Orlando Magic, a live events venue, and a Kimpton hotel among other features. Slated for completion in March 2027, the project promises to revitalize the area, create thousands of jobs, and enhance the urban experience for both residents and visitors.
Orlando is buzzing with excitement as the much-anticipated Westcourt project has officially received the green light from the city’s Appearance Review Board. This landmark project is set to transform the downtown area, bringing a fresh wave of energy and vitality that many residents and visitors have longed for!
What’s the most thrilling part of this project? It will serve as the new home for the beloved Orlando Magic. That’s right! Basketball fans can look forward to an enhanced experience when cheering for their favorite team right in the heart of downtown Orlando.
But it doesn’t stop there! The Westcourt development will also include a lively live events entertainment venue that promises to host concerts, performances, and a range of events that will keep every entertainment aficionado cheerful.
In an exciting twist, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants has been chosen to partner up for the hotel component of Westcourt. Renowned for their trendy boutique hotels, Kimpton operates over 75 hotels and 100 restaurants worldwide, making them a noteworthy addition to this vibrant project. The new Kimpton hotel will make its home right next to the Kia Center, ensuring guests are just a stone’s throw from the action!
This spectacular 11-story hotel will house 261 beautifully designed rooms, ready to provide guests with comfort and style. Expect a fantastic array of amenities including a full-service restaurant, a bustling lobby bar, and even a quaint café. Feeling like a swim? There will be a charming pool bar, perfect for relaxation after a long day of exploring what Orlando has to offer!
Kimpton is no stranger to luxury and allure. Guests will enjoy high-end coffee and tea service, evening socials to mingle with fellow travelers, plus the amazing benefit of in-room yoga mats to unwind. Oh, and did we mention that the hotel will be pet-friendly? This makes it a fantastic option for those traveling with furry companions.
The Westcourt project isn’t just limited to the hotel. Above the hotel, there will be 265 well-appointed multifamily rental units. If that’s not enough, brace yourselves for an addition of a whopping 300,000 square feet of office space along with 120,000 square feet of retail space.
Excitingly, the development will feature a versatile live event venue with a capacity of 3,500! With such space, expect a bustling hub of activities that will entertain locals and visitors alike. To top it off, the project will include a significant 1,140-space parking garage, easing any parking woes for guests and event-goers alike.
The Westcourt site covers approximately 8.5 acres nestled snugly in downtown Orlando, bordered by Central Boulevard and Church Street to the north and south, while Hughey Avenue and Division Avenue define its east and west limits. With the Kia Center (home to our Orlando Magic) right next door, the location isn’t just prime—it’s perfect!
Developed by JMA Ventures, Machete Group, Orlando Magic, and the DeVos family, the completion of this grand project is expected by March 2027. With an estimated cost of $500 million, this ambitious endeavor aims to bring approximately 3,400 jobs to the local community, fueling the economy and enhancing the urban neighborhood experience.
Get ready, Orlando residents! The Westcourt project is on the horizon, promising to bring a new era of vibrancy and excitement to the city. With so much to look forward to, this might just become our favorite gathering place in town!
