Winter Park Welcomes Holiday Events
Winter Park, a vibrant community located just north of Orlando, is gearing up for an exciting lineup of holiday events this December. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy a variety of activities that celebrate the holiday season while providing opportunities for community engagement.
Merry TubaChristmas Event Scheduled
On December 14th, the Central Park Stage in Winter Park will host the annual Merry TubaChristmas. This event will begin with registration at 9 a.m., followed by rehearsals from 10-11:30 a.m. Enthusiastic tuba, euphonium, sousaphone, and baritone players of all ages are invited to participate, with a registration fee of $10. Spectators can enjoy this unique musical experience for free while listening to some uplifting holiday tunes.
Theater Enthusiasts to Enjoy a Classic
Later in the day, renowned actor Duffy Hudson will perform an engaging solo adaptation of A Christmas Carol at the Orlando Public Library. Starting at 3 p.m., Hudson will bring to life all 30 characters from Charles Dickens’ beloved tale without any props or costumes. This performance is free and a must-see for theater lovers.
Community Music and Festivities at Lake Eola
As evening approaches, the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola Park will come alive with the Violectric Holiday Show, beginning at 7 p.m.. Attendees are encouraged to support local education programs through donations, and families will have a chance to meet Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus for memorable holiday photos.
That same night, the Great American Big Band invites residents to bring their chairs and favorite food to enjoy a festive concert under the stars at Central Park. This event starts at 7 p.m. and promises a delightful evening of music for all.
Special Performances and Talks in the Heart of Orlando
On December 15th, the AdventHealth Orchestra will perform seasonal classics in Central Park, starting at 5 p.m.. Families can bring blankets and enjoy timeless holiday music free of charge.
Educational Workshops and Art Demonstrations
As December continues, educational opportunities abound. The Winter Park Philosophy Discussion Group will convene on December 17th at 1 p.m. at the University Club of Winter Park, welcoming curious minds to explore various philosophical topics. Additionally, on December 19th, an art exhibition titled In Tune with Nature will showcase local artists’ works, accompanied by a plein air demonstration by award-winning artist Linda Dudley.
Community Gatherings and Charitable Events
For sports fans and collectors, the Baseball Card and Memorabilia Show will take place on December 20th from 3-8 p.m. and on December 21st from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Bahia Shrine Center in Apopka. This event will feature more than 50 tables of dealers, with proceeds benefiting homeless children.
As the month winds down, the community will celebrate Chanukah on December 25th in Central Park at 5 p.m., featuring entertainment, children’s activities, and delicious food, followed by a grand menorah lighting ceremony.
